Chapter Seven: The Tattoos
The next morning I was all alone. I looked around and found a note. It was from Axel.
“That’s so like him!” I yelled. I realized that I yelled too loudly and waited for Gippal to yell back. No sound came. “Gipy! Are you home?” I asked, wandering through the house. I turned around and heard a loud “BOO!”. I screamed and hit the jokester.
“Ow, Mickey! I was just playing with you, but the look on your face was worth the pain.” Gippal laughed.
I glared at him. “I loathe you right now.” I turned and walked away from him, he was still laughing.
I walked to the phone and picked it up. “What are you doing?” Gippal asked.
“If you must know, I’m calling Kairi and Namine.” I dialed Namine’s number but got no answer. I tried Kairi but got the same response. “Huh.” I said, hanging up the phone.
I sat down beside Gippal and looked at the TV. He was watching a Japanese soap opera. “How can you stand this stuff? It's sooo boring!” I whined.
“I’m watching this 'cause Rikku wants me to. I do things beside mechanics, you know.”
I ignored him and went to my room. I threw the clothes on my bed into the hamper then I snuggled in between the warm covers and went back to sleep.
“Hey, Sleeping Beauty. Wake up. I’m here.”
I opened my eyes and saw Axel stroking my hair. “No. I must sleep.” I rolled back over.
“No, you don’t!” and he picked me up.
“Ok, I’m up!” I said.
He put me down and looked at me. “Are you ever going to get dressed?”
“Yeah, but get out.” I said, pushing him out the door.
I grabbed a pair of jeans, my black Mickey Mouse shirt, my white hoodie, and my vans. I never went anywhere without my vans. When I finally finished getting dressed I let him in. “Finally, you're actually dressed!” he joked. I glared at him and then kissed his cheek.
“Ok, let's go.” he said.
“Wait! My vial.” I yelled, turning back to grab it.
“You're so forgetful, but I love you.” he said.
“I love you, too.” I said, kissing his tattoos.
“Are you ready now?” He gave me that lopsided grin.
“Yeah, let's go.”
We ran out the door and climbed into his car. When I got in I turned on the radio. "Hot n’ Cold" by Katie Perry was playing. I started to sing along to it. When Axel got in he laughed and started to sing with me. We soon stopped at a tattoo parlor. “Why did we stop here?”
“This is your next present.”
“What is it?”
“I’m getting your name on my fingers. So, when I put my fingers together, it will spell your name. And I will let you get any tattoo you want.”
“Awww! You’re so sweet. And I already know what I want to get.”
We walked in and were greeted by a girl with a nasally voice. “What can I do for you today, Axel?”
He grinned and said nothing for a couple of minutes. “Well, I just want a couple of tattoos. Why else would I be here?”
“Fine, but I have to split you two up. You (she pointed at me) come with me. Axel, you just stay here for now.” She led me to a room in the back. It was full of dark gloomy colors and black-ish blue feathers. “Just wait here. He will be here in a couple of minutes.” and she left.
He came in and I saw him for what he was. He had long sliver hair that reached past his waist, a silk black shirt, and a pair of black jeans. But what made me curious was that he had no tattoos. “I’m Sephiroth. What do you want, beautiful?”
“I... I... I would like upside down teardrops and a name on my hand.”
“Axel.” I whispered.
“What?” he said, taunting.
“His name is Axel.” I said, almost yelling.
“Good. Now I know what to write. Where will the tears be? And why those?”
“It's to honor him. And I want them on my cheeks, like his.”
“Ok, lets do this. Try not scream and please hold still.” He started on the tears. I wanted to scream out in pain but I didn’t. I kept my mind on Axel.
“Ok. Now let's start on that name. Where do you want it?” I pointed to the fingers on my left hand and held my thumb to my palm.
“How do you want it? Regular, Baltic, or some other font?”
I thought about it. “Victorian. It would look beautiful like that.”
I finally dared to look at it when he started on the L. The way he did it made it painless. And the way his hand moved as he worked was beautiful.
“Ok, you're done. You were a good girl. I didn’t think that you could handle it, but you surprised me. Let's go out and show him.” He helped me up and I followed him out.
Axel had a stack of magazines in front of him. When he looked up, he gave me that lopsided smile. Of course, I smiled back.
“You look better than I imagined. Want to see your name?” I nodded and looked down, but he took off his shirt. “I decide to get your name on my back with a purple rose underneath it.” I traced my name and the rose. He winced once.
“It's still tender, huh?” I asked.
We walked back to the cashier. Sephiroth was there. “Brea, she had hers done for free. His will be 200 munny."
I was confused. “Why?”
Sephiroth turned and looked at me. “Because I lost a bet with myself. I bet that the next pretty girl that came in and asked for a tattoo would scream while I was doing it. And you’re dating my favorite customer.”
Axel came and put his arm around me. “Well, Sephiroth, we've got to go. We have a date to keep. See you later, maybe.”
When I turned to say good-bye he wasn’t there. “Don’t worry, he heard you from me. Now let's keep our date with the guys.”
Author's Note: I had to put Sephiroth in here 'cause I really haven’t seen him in a lot of stories. Also, he is one of my favorite characters. Mwahahahaha!
